New Moon
& Full Moon
Yin Yoga & Yoga Nidra
What to Expect:
60-75 minutes of Yin Yoga & Yoga Nidra
Every New Moon and Full Moon join me for 60 minutes of Yin Yoga and about 15-30 minutes of Yoga Nidra.
Yin yoga is long held poses.
In Yin Yoga classes you generally hold between 6-10 postures.
We will be spending about 6 minutes in each posture.
Holding poses for long lengths of time helps oxygenate your fascia (the tissues that connect your muscles to your bones and where your blood is made).
This increases collagen and hyaluronic acid production, among many other things that help your body, skin, joints, and energy to stay in alignment, healthy, moisturized, and lubricated.
It is also a deep meditation.
A yin yoga practice forces you to sit with your thoughts and focus inward.
The more you practice the more you are able to work WITH your thoughts.
Working with these energies with the moon will help release old patterns and invite in new intentions along with the natural rhythm of the earth.
It is an incredibly powerful practice and ANYONE at any level will benefit from it.
One of the most important goals in Yin Yoga & Yoga Nidra is
BEING COMFORTABLE.
Wear loose comfortable fitting clothing.
Cozy is the goal here. It's also great to have a blanket handy since we will be remaining very still for long periods of time.
Blocks are very helpful and I recommend you use them.
Blankets, pillows, or bolsters if you have them.
A comfortable quiet corner where you can be as comfortable as possible in your environment for about an hour to an hour and a half.
It’s a good time to bring your crystals out.
It's also a good time to burn some incense and use relaxing essential oils.
The other most important goal of Yin Yoga
is to know your limits.
We want to reach for, and push our edge,
we do not want to injure ourselves.
Anything in your body that feels like pinching, sharp, or electric
you DO NOT WANT.
Are you uncomfortable or are you in pain?
Be okay with backing out of a posture if you are in pain.
Please inform me if you have any injuries or limitations so we can find ways to work around them. Blocks, bolsters, blankets... They are all there for you to help you deepen your practice.
Have grace for yourself.
